bless someone with prayer…

It’s such a blessing when someone prays for you…

I’m humbled by her words… after praying over her… as she wept against my shoulder…

Because the way I pray for others today… almost freely… was a battle to get to…

Battling flesh… self-consciousness… introversion… fear… every time the Spirit said… Pray for them… or… Offer to pray for them…

And He didn’t mean later…! in my quiet time…! He quite literally meant… Pray with them… for them… now…

Yes… our flesh is at odds with the Spirit… I think especially when it comes to prayer…

For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot.

Romans 8:7 ESV

But He says…

Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

Ephesians 6:18 NLT

There have been some times… I’m sorry to say… I told Him… No… especially early on…

If I’m not mistaken… the first time I felt the nudge… heard the call… I silently responded… You want me to what…?!

But… when the shadow of conviction… quietly falls… over a disobedient heart… it is NOT something you want to experience again…

So… over the years… (and I do mean years…!) I’ve humbled myself over and over… offering to pray for strangers… family… friends… fellow Believers… and even those who don’t believe…

In all the promptings by the Spirit… there has only been one occasion… one instance… where someone said… No… and literally… about ran off my front porch… (That was a whole other spiritual lesson in itself…)

Most prayers given are received with thanks… worried faces turned to smiles… and the occasional tearful hug…

The most amazing comment I’ve received… and I’ve heard it more than once… No one has ever prayed for me before…

In a nation where so many say they believe… how can it be… there are people who… have… never… been… prayed… for… by an individual for their individual need…

Let me say it again… humbled… is what I am… when it comes to praying for others…

I know it’s hard… but Jesus… Hmm… He had a hard time hanging on the cross…

My prayer today is… when the Holy Spirit nudges you… whispers in your ear… Pray for them… you will fight the flesh… humble yourself in His name… and bless someone with prayer…

Believe me… it does become easier… and in the process you will be blessed too…

The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

James 5:16 NLT
