For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.

You’re home early… he says as he greets me in the garage…
I reply… Just in time to break fast…
We talk for a moment of my fast… how long it’s been…
Sounds painful… he says…
In truth I say… It is… but good…
Jesus says some things only come out with prayer and fasting…
So sometimes… He calls us to suffer… for the sake of another…
But when we do… it’s always good…
Even though we might not see what He’s working in the unseen… in the spirit realm… joys in the journey make themselves evident…
Closer fellowship with a sister… and seeing Him provide a way of encouragement…
Increased awareness of His constant presence…
And… an opportunity to identify with Him… come to know Him better… in the willingness to suffer… Your will not mine…
Yes… fasting is painful… but good…
But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.
