Grief is not a disorder, a disease or a sign of weakness. It is an emotional, physical and spiritual necessity, the price you pay for love. The only cure for grief is to grieve.
— Dr. Earl A. Grollman (Quoted in Everyday Faith: Grief)
I recognized something recently… something which happened several years ago… which requires grieving…
Something I hoped would change… but hasn’t…
Something I need to let go…
Because what I’m seeing… is how without a season of grief over the loss… my love has become uncomfortable…
The something is always there… in the way of relationship… if not overtly… deep down in my heart…
Some things are easily recognized as moments to grieve…
It’s Mother’s Day… I lost my mom 24 years ago…
Her loss was clearly… a time to grieve…
The process of grief… brought me to a place where I can now remember her without tears… but with joy…
It was through her illness and death… God captured my heart… I even appreciate His timing in the process…
This is what grieving has brought me… a healed heart… which looks back with thanksgiving for my mom… and forward to seeing her again in heaven…
What has come to the surface… which requires grieving in my life… isn’t so obvious as something to grieve over…
I now surrender to the process of grief for a situation… a circumstance… in which I want to have the same peace… God’s timing in the process… the work He’ll do in and through what He’s allowed…
Comfort of knowing it’s all about Him…
The price of love restored to its wholeness… that’s what we find when we grieve in Him…
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Matthew 5:4 ESV
Do you have something you need to grieve over…? a place where you need to be comforted…?
Maybe… just maybe… it’s time to bring it to Him… and… grieve…
