“…O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!…”
Luke 13:34 ESV
Spiritual handicaps…
blindness…
lostness…
paralysis…
unconsciousness…
Unseen disabilities… to which the Father tells His children… If you could only see them like I do…
It’s much easier for us to have compassion… mercy… on those who are physically handicapped…
We see their disability… how it effects their life…
To some degree… we can relate to their struggle… know they need healing… help…
But spiritual handicaps… they’re just harder…
Unseen… except for the symptoms…
anger…
lust…
jealousy…
greed…
fear…
defensiveness…
anxiety…
addiction…
judgmental attitudes…
self-righteousness…
These are people who stir up trouble… those uncomfortable to be around… make life miserable…
Because their disability goes unseen… it’s hard to have compassion… hard to see the need for mercy…
But to those who are growing spiritually… those who have some maturity… should hear the Father say… See them like I do…
blind…
lame…
paralyzed…
unconscious…
dead…
With eyes of faith opened to the spiritual reality of the world around us… He will reveal the walking wounded… those spiritually oppressed… disabled… by the lies of the world…
Then we can begin to offer compassion… mercy… understanding… begin to pray for their healing… and deal with them in a completely different manner…
In light of their handicap…
Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you.
