Some thoughts on love and flowers… this Valentine’s Day…
They don’t last…
The common reason used for not giving flowers as a token of love…
But… that’s exactly the point…
As for man, his days are like grass; he flourishes like a flower of the field; for the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place knows it no more.
Psalm 103:15-16 ESV
Fresh-cut flowers… a reminder of the fragility and beauty of life… the short time we have to love one another…
A reminder to not miss a moment to bless… for our glory is short… our life on earth but a breath…
It is eternity… which He set in our hearts… the desire for things to last forever… making it hard for some to see the message of a briefly blooming flower that’s here today and gone tomorrow…
But again… it’s meant as a reminder… whether on Valentine’s Day or in memory of a loved one…
Only in Him… in His love… do we have any hope… of fulfilling the desire He placed in each one…
Life… and love… everlasting…
But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children’s children, to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments.
Psalm 103:17-18 ESV
