How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I take counsel in my soul and have sorrow in my heart all the day? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?
Psalm 13:1-2 ESV
Ugh…! the lament… of Monday…
We’ve celebrated His resurrection with Sunday’s… Hallelujah…!
But then comes… Monday…
Often people complain about Mondays… they mark the beginning of the new week’s struggle…
And when it comes to Easter Monday… has anything really changed…?
the pandemic continues…
loved ones still wander…
storms still rage…
The reality of our spiritual lives is… we live… for the most part… in Friday and Saturday… of Jesus’s crucifixion…
The challenge is to stay in the Hallelujah…! of resurrection… when Monday brings the pain of suffering… and the stillness of heavenly silence…
Waiting… is where we are…
Waiting… for the healing… the deliverance… the fulfillment of promise…
In the waiting… we must be patient… hope-full… and not forget-full of the wonder of His victory… and the work He is continuing…
Be patient, therefore, beloved, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious crop from the earth, being patient with it until it receives the early and late rains. You also must be patient. Strengthen you hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near.
James 5:7-8 NRSV
This Monday… I feel like a terrible farmer… so impatient…
The planting done… and nothing to do but wait…
Wait for the rains the Lord brings… to do its work…
Lord… help me see my loved ones as the earth from whom You are bringing forth a precious crop of faith… The trials as the storms to do Your work…Teach me… Lord… to strengthen my heart… Let me not forget Your empty tomb… Life brought forth from death…
The lament… of Monday… all the more reason… to set hope… in the Hallelujah…! of Sunday…!
For yet, “in a very little while, the one who is coming will come and will not delay…”
Hebrews 10:37 NRSV
