Give us this day our daily bread.
Matthew 5:11 NRSV

Jesus taught us… when He taught us to pray… to take it one day at a time…
That’s always been the lesson…
His name… I AM Who I AM… reminds us He is present in the present…
He’s in the present… because that’s where we are… but you might not know it by the way we live…
Have you spent time living in the past…? Letting the past define you…? paralyze you…? what’s been done is done and can’t be changed…? I’ve ruined all my chances… there is no use… no hope… because of what was…?
I’ve learned there are no… What ifs?… there is only… What is…
When we step into the present of where our past has brought us… we see where we are… who we are… and what is… and who IS present…
The One who redeems… restores… makes all things new…
And the one who was seated on the throne said, “See I AM making all things new.”
Revelation 21:5 NRSV
Or what about the future…? have you spent more time there than the present…?
Focused on future plans and goals…? what is coming will be the one thing needed to set you up for life…? retirement…? marriage…? children…? better health…? better looks…? smaller waistline…? education…? the future holds the key to all your hopes and dreams…?
Yet you do not even know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wishes, we will live and do this or that.”
James 4:14-15 NRSV
Through the words of James… God brings our attention back to Him… trusting in Him today… for what tomorrow will bring…
The current state of the world has put a stop to looking to the future… at least for the moment… a reality check of sorts…
Plans changed… portfolios turned upside-down… unknowns… more abundant than knowns…
Perhaps He is reminding us… where we are supposed to live… for Whom we are to live… and in Whom we are to invest…
Give us this day… our daily bread…
Today… this is where He is… this is where we find Him… and the peace… security… satisfaction… He offers… no matter the circumstances we face…
We may not know what comes next… but we can know the One who does…
The enemy longs to keep us from our Redeemer… using condemnation… shame… despair… to imprison us in the past… keeping us from the One who waits for us to return…
But he’s just as happy to deceive us with a bright future… drawing us away from Him… luring us to strive for what might be… blinding us to Who Is…
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.
James 4:7-8 NRSV
Give us this day… our daily bread…
May this moment in time turn your heart toward Him… the Great I AM… Who was and is and will be… the One who gives our daily bread right where we are… today…
Healing… Grace… Hope… Peace…
Give us this day our daily bread…
“Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever believes has eternal life. I AM the Bread of Life.”
John 6:47-48 ESV
Give us this day… our daily bread… Lord… for You know what we need for today… You know what is coming tomorrow… and You alone take our yesterdays… and redeem them for good… when we surrender them to You… Amen…
