After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”
Genesis 22:1-2 ESV

God provides tests… to prove our faith…
The Hebrew translated as tested…
nacah (naw-sah’)… to test, try, prove, tempt, assay, put to the proof or test…
–Enhanced Strong’s Lexicon
Tests of faith… reveal where we are placing our faith…
Abraham proved his faithfulness to God… in a very difficult test…
Read Genesis 22:1-14… for the rest of the story…
Abraham placed his trust in God… he obeyed God… seemingly without hesitation…
When his son asked… Where’s the lamb for the burnt offering…? Abraham pointed him to God… God will provide for Himself the lamb…
They reached their destination…
Abraham built the alter… laid the wood… and bound Isaac his son and laid him on top of the wood. Then Abraham reached out his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son. But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham! Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” He said, “Do not lay your hand on the boy… for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son from me.”
Genesis 22:9-12 ESV
What we do… reveals where we place our faith…
Everyday… our faith is tested to one degree or another…
Examine what you do today…
Consider… where you are placing your faith…
your job…?
money…?
relationships…?
institutions…?
And don’t miss this…
In the testing of Abraham’s faith… in his faithfulness to God in a call of extreme sacrifice… God proved Himself faithful…
And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold… a ram, caught in a thicket… And Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham called the name of that place, “The Lord will provide”…
Genesis 22:13-14 ESV
Are you finding God faith-full in your life…?
If not… maybe you are placing your faith… in something other than Him…
