You have wearied the Lord with your words. Yet you say, “How have we wearied Him?” In that you say, “Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of the Lord, and He delights in them,” or, “Where is the God of justice?”
Malachi 2:17 NASB
The prophet told the people they were wearing God out with their words…

Words which spoke worship… but had no heart to back them…
Words which called evil good… and good evil…
Words which called God absent… when it came to injustice…
And the people said… What…?! How have we wearied Him…?
We weary Him when we don’t really know Him… and speak badly about Him…
When we lean on our own understanding… rather than seeking His revelation…
When we let emotions rule… and set aside Truth…
Theology is the study of how to speak truly of God and of all things in relation to God.
–Kevin J Vanhoozer, Letter to an Aspiring Theologian
Have you heard the Spirit convict you lately…? did you respond with a… What…?!
Only when we truly enter into a right relationship with Him… child to Father… servant to Lord… teachable… obedient… will we stop wearying God with our words…
For a season… we may even be completely silent before Him…
Before we dare… whisper a word… of true worship…
“Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Psalm 46:10 ESV
