Moses said to the Lord, “See, you say to me, ‘Bring up this people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found favor in my sight.’ Now therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, please show me now your ways, that I may know you in order to find favor in your sight. …”
Exodus 33:12-13 ESV
Led to this passage following Daily Light on the Daily Path… and in Moses’s words… I see a cycle…
Moses found He had favor in God’s sight… because God told Him…
In the burning bush… in following the call on his life… Moses saw God…
In the seeing of God… Moses wanted to know Him more… which led to seeking more of Him…
With the seeking Moses finds favor in God’s sight… God’s favor for Him…
…if I have found favor in your sight… show me now your ways… that I may know You… in order to find favor in Your sight…
I draw the cycle in my Bible…
Then I begin to see if it’s true in my life… jotting a note to Him in my journal…
Because You favor me Lord, You revealed Yourself to me through my Mom in her illness.
I saw You, I knew something personal about You which caused me to seek You more.
In the seeking You looked on me with favor and You showed me more of You, therefore I knew more about You and sought to know more of You and I found favor in Your sight etc etc
As I wrote it… it struck me… I found favor in Your sight…
I highlighted it bright in yellow…
A revelation…
Favor in His sight…
That’s what we discover in the seeing and seeking…
To know Him… is to know His great love and favor for those He’s created…!
It’s not about earning His favor… it’s about finding it… discovering it… through seeking…
Increasing in experiential knowledge of God… is seeing how much favor… love… grace… He has for you…
His love is always the same… it’s just we don’t always see it… because we don’t know Him…
Yet He reveals it to us… constantly… through words of a loved one who trusts Him in her terminal illness… through sunsets… sunrises… seasons… the waxing and waning of the moon…
The great abundance of grace… in an earth that produces abundantly… the laugh of a child… the wonder of romance… the great goodness and wonder… far outweighing the evil we let enter the earth…
He reveals Himself to us… because in His sight we find favor… when we see Him… we know Him with an Aha moment… which stirs our heart to seek Him… and that’s when we find… favor in His sight…
We love because he first loved us.
1John 4:19 ESV
His favor… it’s what we find when we see Him… it’s what we come to know in our heart… which drives us to know Him more…
His favor…
He’s revealing it… all around you… every day…
Ask Him for eyes to see…
and you will find it…
His great favor for you…
Favor in His sight…
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8 NIV
