pressed… in the right direction…

“I am doing a great work and I cannot come down. …” –Nehemiah

Nehemiah 6:3 NASB

Nehemiah knew what God called him to…

He knew where to spend his limited time… energy… resources…

On the great work… God called him to do…

Rebuild the wall around Jerusalem… the wall torn down when God gave His people over to exile… because they did not know the great work they were called to do…

In study today with sisters… we talked about two important questions… to make sure we are not pressed in the wrong direction…

Do you know the great work God calls you to…?

Do you know the enemy… who distracts you from the work…?

We have many enemies in the world… ones who want to keep us from doing God’s work… prevent us from growing His Kingdom…

And when the enemy sends invitations to join him on the plain of Ono… our singular response should be…

Oh no… I’m doing a great work… I cannot come down…

For if we don’t know our work… and we don’t know the enemy… or his modus operandi when it comes to distraction… we will fall in his trap… a trap only meant to harm…

Without those questions clearly answered… the enemy has the advantage… and uses demoralizing ridicule… to press us into coming to him… rather than staying faith-full… to the work of God…

So at the end of a week of pressed… consider the two important questions for yourself…

What is the great work… He has called you to…?

Who is your enemy… how does he distract…?

As God’s co-workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain. For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.
