“No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light. …”
Luke 8:16 ESV
Embracing the call of author… has me thinking a lot about what it means to shine for Him… to live for His glory…
So much so… my friend ordered me a pillow… as a reminder…
To a degree… I’ve seen it as my responsibility to make His glory in me visible… to seek exposure… be out where those who come near… might see His light…
But what I recently saw is… He is the One… who lights the lamp…
The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone.
John 1:4 NLT
Every single person… anyone who has life in them… was created by Jesus… the Word made flesh… for the purpose of glorifying God…
But not all of us recognize… accept… embrace this purpose and privilege… and so never receive the power… to fulfill our purpose…
For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.
2Corinthians 4:6-7 ESV
He is the One who lights us up… with life… and the Holy Spirit… when we believe in what His Son made the way for…
Forgiveness… redemption… restoration… eternal life…
Therefore… if He lights the lamp…
He is the One who sets us on the lampstand…
lampstand noun… a pillar, tripod, or stand for supporting or holding a lamp
–www.Merriam-Webster.com
I love this definition of lampstand… in the tripod… I see the Trinity… Father… Son… Spirit…
He is the stand on which we shine…
He sets each one of us in the place He chooses for us to glorify Him…

He calls us to shine where He sets us…
All we need do is… obey…
Serve Him… right… where… we… are…
Shine… for Him… in whatever capacity… He has provided…
Be aglow and burning with the Spirit, serving the Lord.
Romans 12:11 Amp
With a heart willing to serve… He sets us up… out in the world… to burn for Him… remembering we only have light… life… love… because of Him…
May thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart
My zeal inspire
As thou hast died for me
O may my love to thee
Pure, warm, and changeless be
A living fire!
–Ray Palmer (1875), My Faith Looks Up to Thee
Are you aglow and burning with His Spirit…?
Are you serving…? shining…? for Him…?
Wherever you are… He has set you up… as a light… a lamp… for His glory…
Amen… (Let it be so…)
