But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
Hebrews 3:13 ESV
This verse collides with the message of silent waiting…
Keeping my spiritual insights… revelations… understanding… under wraps…quietly waiting… while He orchestrates…
It sticks to my spirit… exhort one another every day…
The words cross my path in a couple of other places… so I know it is something I must pay attention to…
But I ask Him… If I can’t encourage those in my home… every day… because I wait for You to orchestrate a return… who do I exhort…?
And this place comes to mind…
I wrestle with the thought… just recently being released from the six days a week I wrote for six or so years… here on this blog…
And what if I heard wrong…?
Yet… I know… He alone provides for those He calls… and the only guarantee He gives… comes with the evidence of it getting done… like what He told Moses…
And God said, “I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.”
Exodus 3:12 NIV
We know it’s Him… His call… His purpose… His provision… when we have done it…!
So… here we go… the beginning of an every day effort to exhort His people… to those whose eyes can see… and ears can hear…
What to expect…? To begin with… the Greek translated as exhort is parakaleo… it means…
1 to call to ones’s side, call for, summon. 2 to address, speak to, (call to, call upon), which may be done in the way of exhortation, entreaty, comfort, instruction, etc. 2A to admonish, exhort. 2B to beg, entreat, beseech. … 2C to console, to encourage and strengthen by consolation, to comfort… 2D to encourage, strengthen. 2E exhorting and comforting and encouraging. 2F to instruct, teach
–Enhanced Strong’s Lexicon
Hope-fully what you will find if you come along side… is a range of encouragement… from the prodding when you’re stuck… the comfort needed when you’re hurt… and the beseeching to continue in faithfulness… trusting Him to be all He says He is…
Today… as most days here… I also preach to myself…
So listen up…! If you hear Him calling you… to take a step of faith… get out of the boat in rough waters… stand up and speak up… take the step… trust your faith in Him… trust Him to bring you to the end…
Remembering His definition of faith…
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
Hebrews 11:1 NIV84
I don’t see the days ahead… not even a week’s worth of posts… and looking back… I only see where I’ve wondered at how I did the six days before…
But faith… is not trusting our own eyes… it’s trusting His Word… and being certain it’s Him… even when we do not see…
Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts…”
