She said to her mistress, “Would that my lord were with the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy.”
2Kings 5:3 ESV
For context read… 2Kings 5:1-3…
The girl speaking to her mistress… an enslaved servant girl… captured on a raid by an enemy of Israel… an enemy of God’s chosen people…
And her mistress… the one to whom she was enslaved…? The wife of the commander of the enemy army who stole her… from family… friends… homeland…
The one on whom she had compassion is the commander himself… who suffers from leprosy… Would that my lord were with the prophet… He would cure him…
What does this say about the faith of this servant girl…? this Believer…? captured… enslaved…?
What does it say about God…? the One who she believes would have mercy and compassion… on the enemy of His people…?
And what about the prophet’s faith…? who she believes would cure him…?
Something for you to chew on today…
How does your faith compare…? What do you believe…? about God…? about compassion…? about mercy…?
