mockingbird praise…

Sing a new song to the Lord! Sing his praises from the ends of the earth!

Isaiah 42:10 NLT

Porch-sitting with morning coffee… I hear him… see him… in his regular perch… the tip-top of the garage…

A mockingbird… singing his heart out… loud and clear…

This is not my mockingbird… but a picture* of one for those unfamiliar with the Texas state bird…

Their name comes from their uncanny ability to “mock”… or mimic… the songs of other birds…

As I hear him sing his songs atop the garage… it seems as if no melody is repeated in his eclectic collection of tweets… twitters… warbles… caws… and cackles…

Occasionally… his exuberance of song lifts him straight into the air… a vertical flutter of about eighteen inches… then right back to his spot… to continue his song…

The verse I read just an hour or so earlier… came to mind…

Sing a new song to the Lord!

This gray… common… not so spectacular creature… singing song after song… all sounding a new fresh praise… to the One who created Him… is a reminder for me… to practice mockingbird praise…

Sing praise to the One who deserves all praise…

In each of our ordinary days… there is reason to praise Him…

One new song… after… another…!

Let the whole world glorify the Lord; let it sing his praise.

Isaiah 42:12 NLT
