flesh vs Spirit… a daily battle…

For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.

Galatians 5:17 ESV

I’ve felt the battle of late… flesh vs Spirit…

When I’m about the business of the daily duties… I hear the call of my spirit… longing to go into the quiet with Him… pursue the work of contemplation…

But when the day opens up… and time comes available to sit with the Spirit… do the work He calls me too… the flesh is tired… it cries for attention… entertainment… food… drink…

I feel Paul’s pain…

For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am of the flesh, sold under sin. For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.

Romans 7:14-15 ESV

Flesh vs spirit…

My flesh… against both my spirit… and His… a daily battle…

Here I find strength in the I can’t… but He can…

I find grace in my unfaithfulness… because He is faithful..

I find hope in His resurrection… and His work in making all things new…

In the now and not yet… in the year of the Lord’s favor… we find ourselves in daily battle…

Battles in which we must remind ourselves… the victory is already won…!

Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.

Psalm 51:12 ESV
