This morning… I’m reminded by another blogger… God is in the fire…
Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led his flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. And the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush was burning, yet it was not consumed. And Moses said, “I will turn aside to see this great sight, why the bush is not burned.” When the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.”
Exodus 3:1-4 ESV
The fires of life burn… various intensities and forms… troubles… afflictions… turmoil…
Often we run from the fire… or frantically try to stomp it out… but as the blogger suggests… as Moses does… maybe… we need to stop… look… see God in the fire…
For in every fire… God has a purpose…
Behold, I have refined you but not as silver; I have tried you in the furnace of affliction.
Isaiah 48:10 ESV
Fire… in God’s hands… is a refining fire…
When we surrender our lives to Him… we accept the fires he allows… and look for Him in the heat of the flames…
Listen for Him… to reveal and lead… to test our faith… and purify our hearts…
He is in the fire of affliction…
“…Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9 ESV
Seek Him in the fires of life…
Surrender to His purpose…
Rest in the refining…
