faithful prayer…

To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints…

Ephesians 6:18 ESV

She called ahead to say she needed prayer before taking care of business at the shop…

This isn’t my usual way when it comes to praying for others…

I plan for group prayer to pray for those who aren’t present…

Other times… I offer prayer as the Spirit nudges… Ask if you can pray for them…

There have been a times… when someone busted in… all undone… asking for prayer…

But not too often… does someone call ahead… I need prayer…

As I waited for her arrival… I prayed…

Lord… prepare me to pray for her…

What came to mind… were physical ways… I could make a way to meet her needs…

Ways I wouldn’t have thought of…

Things I wasn’t sure she would need…

This was different…

Preparation to intercede… leading to preparation of meeting a need…

If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

James 2:15-17 ESV

In our prayers for others… in offering blessings… He also calls us… prepares us… to care for their needs…

If it is in our power… to help a brother or sister in His name… we are to do it…

But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.

1John  3:17-18 ESV

So… this evening I wonder… at how He moves a heart open to prayer… to action…

Amen…
