With the new year inevitably comes talk about resolutions… new beginnings… a time to start afresh…
Yet… hand in hand with new year’s resolutions… comes talk of failing…
Failing to stay faithful to the new commitment…
Resolutions forgotten or abandoned within a few short weeks…
Why do we do this once a year…? why the angst over failure to keep a resolution all year…? only to console ourselves by saying… There’s always next year…?
His mercies… compassions… are new every morning…
Why don’t we give the same mercy to ourselves…? with failed resolutions…?
Instead of approaching a new change or way for a whole year… why not just start with a day…
One day… of a new way… a reason to celebrate…!
Then… with each new morning… make the same resolution…
God is commended for His great faithfulness… because His mercies are new… EVERY MORNING…
Perhaps we too could be people of great faithfulness… to new year’s resolutions… to keeping His way… to loving others as we love ourselves… if we approached them as He does…
New… each… day…
A fresh start… every… morning…!
Little by little… He leads us into fulfillment of His promises…
Maybe we need to take the same view… pursue resolutions little by little… morning by morning… day by day…
If we recall this to mind… we too have hope… to start afresh each day… and not wait for the next new year…
