December 9… the second Sunday of Advent…
The second candle lit… a symbol of… Christ the Way…
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. …”
John 14:6 ESV
He sees all our ways… He knows the crooked paths we take… the snare of sin which folds us fast…
He knows… we need a better way… so He came to make the Way…
He came to make the Way through the veil separating us from the Father… the veil protecting us from judgment and death…
A way which cannot be taken without the price of atonement being paid…
Apart from Jesus… the Son of Man… who died for our sins… it is not safe to enter the Father’s presence…
No one comes to the Father except through Me…
His Way is the way of faith…
A Son who did no wrong… did nothing of His own will… He did only what He saw the Father doing…
Jesus not only showed us the way to live a faith-full life… but empowered us… making the way for the Holy Spirit to live in us…
Jesus Christ… The Way…
The way we learn to walk… while waiting for His return…
The way in which we wait… during our current Advent…
Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.
