But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. And the shepherds returned glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told to them.

Mary who ponders…
What did she think about the shepherds…? who showed up telling of angels out in the field…?
What did she think…? of the angel’s words the shepherds relayed with great excitement…?
And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

The angels knew where Mary and Joseph and the newborn baby were… and they told the news to shepherds… who came to worship…
What does this tell us…? about the King who came…?
Mary… she treasured and pondered… wondered about the significance of the miraculous… in the midst of the mundane…
We live in the same type of world… one where God’s promises don’t always come about how we would imagine…
One where the realities of living… keep us from truly seeing His presence in and around… promises being played out before us…
What does it say about us…? when we neglect to ponder Him…? who He is…? what He reveals about Himself…? and how He will come again…?
Lord… forgive us for not pondering Your coming like we should… Bless us with a heart like Mary’s… one which treasures… what You reveal…
