december 2…

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 40:28-31 NIV

December 2… the first Sunday of Advent…

The word… Hope

I’ve spent a lot of time learning about hope lately…

I’ve learned it’s the fuel for faith… without hope we really have no faith…

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for…

Hebrews 11:1 ESV

Advent is about waiting… and so is hope…

Without hope… we do not wait…

We do not wait if we have no hope of getting what we are waiting for…

Where I worship… the first Sunday of Advent coincides with first Sunday Communion…

All the hope wrapped up in the manger… came to fruition at the cross…

We celebrate His birth… because we hope in what is to come through His crucifixion… and resurrection…

Our current Advent is the waiting… hoping in… His return to set all things right…

And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.”

Revelation 21:5 ESV

In Communion… hope is proclaimed… seen in the imperfect gathering… with the hope of attaining holy perfection… in His name…

And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

Luke 22:19 ESV

The current hope of Advent… found in the breaking of Perfection… so the broken might be perfected…

For this we wait… in hope…
