Growth is always awkward… for us human beings…
Babies learning to eat…
Toddlers learning to walk…
Teens learning to relate to one another…
Awkward…
Spiritual growth…. the same…
Awkward…
Learning to pray… hear… obey…
Like Lazarus raised from the tomb… still wrapped in death clothes… needing help to get unwrapped…
“Lazarus, come out.” The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”
John 11:43-44 ESV
Jesus never restrained… or stained… by His own sin… stepped out of the tomb free…
But the angel said to the women, ” Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. …”
Matthew 28:4-6 ESV
But we at spiritual birth… more like Lazarus…
Wrapped in wounds from sin… strongholds which we need to learn to walk free of…
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us…
Hebrews 12:1 ESV
Every step of growth… awkward…
At times our growing pains… may cause others to not understand the glory of the gospel…
But… thanks be to God… His grace is greater…
And even our awkward… He works for our good… and His glory…
