His body…

I came across a Francis Chan read… on the YouVersion Bible App…

And he caused me to think a bit deeper… about being a part of His body…

There is no greater honor on earth than to be part of God’s Church. … Have you marveled at the privilege?

“For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body.” Ephesians 5:29-30

So I took Chan’s prompt to consider the honor… of being a member of His body… and marvel I did…

I thought about it in terms of my body…

Just this last week… I clipped my fingernails and toenails… because they were too long… or split… or just in bad shape…

Jesus does the same for us…

I thought about when I stubbed my toe… a recent cut on my finger… and a not too long ago burn on my arm…

I mourned over each body part… ached with it in pain… cared for it immediately…

Held it tight to stop the bleeding… quell the pain…

Tended the wounds carefully over the following days of healing…

Jesus does the same for us…

I thought about a new friend… treating an injured arm gently… protecting it in its painful… wounded… state…

Jesus does the same for us…

Spiritually… He is guarding… protecting… caring for… tending to… His body parts… every member of the Church…

He is the Head… He calls on other members to tend to the other parts…

Without my hands and feet… legs and arms… eyes and nervous system… I couldn’t have tended my own wounds…

He calls on parts of His body in the care of others…

We are His body…

And I marvel at the fact…

I am a cared for… tended to… member… of… His… body…

For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. … If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.

1Corinthians 12:1, 26 ESV

I pray you’ll take a moment too… to marvel… at the wonder of it all…
