no going back…

No… there’s no going back to the ten year plan…

The answer from the doctor as I lay on the table all prepped for a colonoscopy… a diagnostic procedure I underwent just three years ago…

And I really did realize… that after one suspicious find… even if all was clear this time… I was no longer on the regular ten year screening plan…

There is no going back… to a clean history…

The same happened with the discovery of glucose intolerance… pre-diabetes…

Even if all my blood work comes back “normal”… the truth is it means I’m controlled… not cured…

There’s no going back to cheese tots and a large vanilla coke…

The dietary road narrowed… if I want to stay healthy…

The same is true for my GI health… the road narrowed to scopes every five years…

There’s no going back…

As we grow spiritually… just as we grow older… the road narrows…

He reveals a hidden sin… one rooted deep we might not have recognized before as sin…

But when He reveals it… when we repent… then there’s no going back… if you want to stay spiritually healthy…

The road narrows as we move toward holiness… but it doesn’t necessarily feel more constricted… tighter… harder to travel…

Because just like we’ll stay free of disease when we follow the narrowing guidelines for our health as we age… we will become freer from dis-ease as we follow the narrow way of the Spirit…

The more He narrows the way… the freer we become…

The freer we become… the more joy we feel…

There’s just no going back…

“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. …”

Matthew 7:13-14 ESV
