After our “serious” talk… I felt the Spirit say… Give her a hug…
I did… told her I loved her… and hugged…
Her response was not what I expected…
She fully received… rested her head against me… like a daughter to a mom…
She said… Thank you… and just settled into the hug…
I was surprised… wasn’t sure how well she would take a hug from me in the first place… considering the nature of our relationship…
But the child was just hungry… for a hug…
I started to move… bring the hug to a close… lifting my head from hers…
As I looked at her… she looked into my face just beaming… such joy…
She kept her arms around me… so happy…!
I hugged her again…
Sometimes… a person just needs a hug… a pat on the back… a hand to hold… the touch of another… to feel loved…
Thinking about what I gave at the Spirit’s prompting… I got back in the same instance…
The blessing of hugging… returned the blessing of being hugged…
The Holy Spirit knows… and He prompts us to offer love through touch…
It’s why we are His Body… the hands and feet of Jesus…
It’s how He gives a loving touch to others… through His people…
Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the churches of Christ greet you.
