Facing discouragement… I’m called to remember His encouragement…
So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Philippians 2:1-4 ESV
So… I consider the source of my discouragement… which comes from looking at me… rather than the others I’m called to serve… feed His Word…
I consider the love He’s given me… the comfort… the work of the Spirit… and realize I’m to look to Him… not at me…
Discouragement… no matter the source… ultimately comes from taking our eyes off Him… and considering self instead…
The challenge… the difficulty… the doubt… stems from forgetting it’s not about me… but Him…
For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.
