It’s Friday before Easter…
The day He hung on the cross…
And they brought him to the place called Golgotha (which means Place of a Skull). And they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it. And they crucified him and divided his garments among them, casting lots for them, to decide what each should take. And it was the third hour when they crucified him.
Mark 15:22-25 ESV
In hindsight… we call it Good…
But for the ones who lived through those three days… it was disastrous… the worst day ever…!
Their hopes dashed…
Their hearts fear-full…
Their future uncertain…
It was a dark day…
And I think about the disasters which enter our lives… dashing hopes… filling hearts with fear and uncertainty…
Dark days…
It’s hard to see our way through them…
But because He hung on the cross… the darkest day ever… our dark days can be turned to good to… at least for those who believe…
He is the Sovereign God who works all things for good… and takes what the enemy intends for harm and uses it for good…
Jesus endured… for what He knew of His Father… for what He knew was on the other side…
Joy…
…let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:1-2 ESV
Believers have the comfort and confidence… of knowing… what looks dark and disastrous… in the end… will be for good…
All because of Friday…
Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.
