seasons…

For the moment…

I said it to a friend about a loved one whose current season of life causes me angst…

She stopped me… Did you hear what you said…? For the moment…

Seasons pass… Spring… Summer… Fall… Winter… 

We’ve had an unusually wet… gray… cloudy… winter…

I was thinking just this week… noticing… how my mood is not nearly affected by changing seasons as it used to be…

In my twenties… through my thirties… I suffered mild seasonal depression…

There was a time I seriously thought about light therapy… purchasing a headlamp to increase my UV absorption to lift my mood…

But what I’ve found… the closer I walk with Him… the closer to the Son… the less externals… such as short… gray… days… affect my spirit…

He has lightened me on the inside…

Now I long for Him to grow me to not be so affected by the spiritually dark seasons those I love are walking through…

As He’s changed me when it comes to nature’s seasons… may He do the same with the spiritual seasons of those dear to me…

Those outside my control… those seasons which come to pass…

May those seasons… come to affect my spirit… as little as the short days of winter do now…

The dark seasons of those I love… do not have to affect my spirit… as I walk in His light… evermore each day… trusting Him to bring these dark seasons to pass for His purpose…

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord.
