Press into the pain…
The thought came as the massage therapist pressed hard into a knotted muscle…
Press into… the pain…
My first reaction to pain…? push away…
Press… into… the pain…
On the massage table… it’s important to relax… let your body weight give into gravity… and the pressing of the therapist’s hands…
Press… into… the… pain…
Otherwise… you miss the benefit of the working hands…
So He shows me it’s true of spiritual pain… emotional pain…
We need to press into the pain… placing it in His healing hands…
When the thought came… I was struggling with Him on what was going on in me…
But His words… Press into the pain… caused me to turn to Him in prayer…
Praying for the sorrows and pains of others… whose struggles cause me pain… sorrow… heartache…
Pressing into the pain in prayer… removed the thoughts of my own pitiful self-centered struggle…
No longer looking at self… but at others… and bringing them to Him…
As the hands of the massage therapist relieve the ache in muscles…
His hands… receiving prayers… relieve the ache in our spirits…
The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
