After reflecting on the long road of faith yesterday… I’m brought face to face… with a reminder of the battle on the road…
Watching another walk the road… battling with doubt… struggling with understanding…
the unseen… vs… the seen…
what’s real… what’s not…
I remember my own battles for… with… belief…
There’s a scene in the movie A Beautiful Mind which reflects this battle of faith in the negative…
John Nash… a brilliant mathematician… struggles with schizophrenia… tries to live without the psychotropics which make him feel dead… numb… disconnected…
Nash battles to put the unseen… his hallucinations… in the periphery of his life… and engage what’s real…
In contrast… on the road of faith… we must put into our periphery what seems real to our senses… but is in fact the distraction from what’s truly real… the unseen…
Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1 ESV
The physical battle of Nash on the grounds of the campus… are as real as the internal battle we face… on the road of faith…
There’s no way through… but to battle the seen… to find the true reality of the unseen…
And Christ himself is that reality.
Colossians 2:17 NLT
There are many who will stare… call you crazy… as you travel the road of faith… but every battle is worth it… and you are never in it alone…
“… Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9 ESV
