There are no… good… people…
I get in trouble when I say it… but He said it first…
And I hold to it… like the psalmist who said…
I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.”
Psalm 16:2 ESV
Only when we allow the Lord to be Lord… do we have any good in us… do we do any good…
I saw it recently… in my own backyard… a picture of only being good at the Master’s hand…
You may or may not remember… a stray… abandoned… starving dog… made it’s way into our life a few months ago…
A dog with a favorable disposition… but bad all the same…
He loves to play… jump on you… eat garbage… chew whatever he can get his mouth on…
He is not a good dog…
My husband invested in a shock collar… I watched as he began the training in the backyard…
Immediately… a difference in the dog’s obedience… i.m.m.e.d.i.a.t.e.l.y…
There it was…
Under the discipline and lordship of the master… the bad dog… was now good…
Coming when he was called… fetching balls… sitting… staying…
Now there’s some truth…
There are no good people… apart from the Master…
Only His lordship… His discipline… His grace and love… make a bad person good…
