chaos…

Chaos… that’s what we excel at creating…

Praise God… He excels at order…

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness.

Genesis 1:1-4 ESV

From the beginning… God put everything in order… taking what was formless… giving it form… a vast… complex… ecosystem…

We… on the other hand… entered in and rebelled… giving way to corruption… decay… death…

Re-ordering… making new… is what Jesus came to do…

He re-orders… all… our… chaos…

In a small way… I spent part of my day… re-ordering… cleaning… after days of rest… days of play… days of celebration…

Even in our holy celebrations… we make chaos…

Living in broken bodies… in a broken world… things just move toward disorder…

I’m reminded the same happens in our spiritual lives…

Without constant re-ordering… we wander from truth…

Without constant re-minders… we forget who we are…

Without constant effort to keep His Way… we make our own way…

Chaos…

For now it’s something we live with… work against… to create order… peace… and a place for life…

We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.
