a nativity prayer… part one…

Five days until Christmas… and inspiration for a prayer comes to mind…

Scenes from Jesus’s birth… and His early walk on earth… the basis for interceding… on behalf of self… and others…

In His coming… can be seen… His desire to be known by His people…

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!

Psalm 34:8 ESV

God is not impersonal… He is knowable… and desires for us to taste… experience personally… who He is…

Thus His coming into the world… as one of His own creations… a Babe laid in a manger… Immanuel

“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).

Matthew 1:23 ESV

A Nativity Prayer… Day 1…

Praise Him as Knowable… One who wants to be known… makes Himself accessible… through His Word… His Son… His Spirit…

Intercede for yourself… for others… to know Him as Immanuel… God with us…

Ask Him to reveal His presence in your life… with you every moment…

For those who are wandering… ask Him to remind them… He is near… with them… wherever they go…

For those who are lost… who deny His existence… or think Him inaccessible… ask Him to make Himself known… in a way they might see… and know… He is with them…

With the celebration of His coming… the beginning of His mission to save the world… let us pray… to know He is near… to know His love… to know His salvation…

Pray for yourself… for those you hold dear… and those you do not… but should…

Use His story of becoming known… to pray life… into your world…

What better way to celebrate His coming… than to pray for Him to be known and seen more fully…

Four more parts of prayer will follow… as we journey toward this holy-day…
