a new perspective… found in a hard place…

I wonder at His patience… as I pursue the call to sow His Word… in hard places…

Today… we delved into Psalm 23… exploring Scripture as God’s Word…

We asked… What does God have to say to you…? using the following “conversation starter”…

  • What 5 things do You want me to know…?
  • What 3 things do You want me to feel…?
  • What 1 thing do You want me to do…?

A simple way to take a chapter of Scripture… and listen… to what He has to say…

We muddled through… answered all the questions… and in the discussion… I saw something new…

Something He’s saying to me… something He wants me to know…

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life…

Psalm 23:6 ESV

The original language… reflects something chasing after… pursuing…

But as we considered what this might mean… in the context of the whole… I got a little different picture…

He is our Shepherd… who leads us in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake… who anoints us with purpose… provides for us in the face of our enemies…

And I see goodness and mercy following… being left in the wake behind us… as we allow Him to lead us down the path of love…

Everywhere we go… we leave behind… goodness and mercy… in the places we’ve been… just like He did… when He roamed the earth…

Goodness… and… mercy… which will eventually catch up with us in the end…

A new perspective… of what it means to be His…

And for me… a reminder… that even in hard places… I leave behind… a trail of goodness… and mercy… for His name’s sake… as I follow Him…

Amen…
