Words for yesterday… didn’t come til today…
The time with sisters… on Friday morning… reminded we were at war…
Then Gideon and the 300 men who were with him came to the Jordan and crossed over, weary yet pursuing.
He said to the men of Succoth, “Please give loaves of bread to the people who are following me, for they are weary, and I am pursuing Zebah and Zalmunna, the kings of the Midian.”
The leaders of Succoth said, “Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna already in your hands, that we should give bread to your army?”
Judges 8:4-6 NASB
After entering the Promised Land… the Israelites… each within their own boundaries… began to turn inward… looking out only for themselves…
Gideon was leading 300 from several tribes… the men of Succoth from the tribe of Gad…
All… from Gideon to Succoth… sons of Israel…
Midian and its kings… the common enemy…
They forgot they were family… God’s people… settled by Him to serve Him and support one another…
They lost sight of the big vision… His Kingdom come… and fought for their own tribes… their own peace… their own pride…
We see the same in the church today… not just in the doctrinal walls of denominations… but within a single congregation… we wound our own with judgment… rather than feed one another with grace…
Friday morning… we sat in our circle… the sisters sharing wounds… those inflicted by the world… and by the church…
We closed our time together doing what we all need to do… Go to Him in prayer…
We praised His name… remembered who He is…
We sought forgiveness for our failures… remembering who we are before Him…
We thanked Him for grace…
We called on Him to keep His promises… we lifted up names…
Name after name… of those we love…
Those being lied to by the world…
Those fighting their own battles…
Those who don’t know there is a battle to fight…
In it all… I remember… He promised to finish what He’s begun… and He is making ALL things new…
And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He says, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.”
Revelation 21:5 NASB
