Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.
Psalm 116:15 ESV
She wrote this verse in the email notifying us of the death of a cousin on Monday… today family gathered… to celebrate her life…
I think about this verse today… reflecting on why He finds the death of His people precious…
precious… of great value or high price… highly esteemed or cherished…
–Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary (11th Ed.)
When His saints leave their earthly bodies… they join Him in His presence…
He paid a high price… to make the reunion possible…
They’ve finished the race… and kept the faith… Yes… that is precious in His sight…
I shared some precious moments today… with cousins… family… some I hadn’t seen in years…
These are people dear to me… many a part of my life as long as I can remember… and me part of some lives as long as they can remember…
To gather together with those related to you by blood… family you grew up with… no matter how many years between the visits… the relationships are still as close as when you last parted…
Some took a moment to recognize… but what a joy to see them…
A time of sorrow… and joy…
But also a time to remember… in Him… we will all be gathered together again… in a moment…
Knowing the separation isn’t permanent… hearing… sharing… stories of faith among those gathered to remember… is precious… and comforting…
And in His sight… it is a cherished thing… when His people… faithfully finish the race… and join Him…
It is precious in His sight…
