She said it immediately after I said… Thanks for telling me your faith story...
You see… she’s one of the youth I’m teaching about faith…
As part of leading them to take possession of their own faith… build their wall of faith… I challenged each to share their story with me…
But her response surprised me… Thanks for listening…
In her words I hear the desire to be known… to share what God’s done for her… His love for her… His presence with her…
And really… isn’t that what we all want…? to be known…? to be heard…? to tell what He’s done for us…?
I’m not sure we spend enough time in our faith communities listening to one another… asking one another… about our experiences with God…
Asking… listening… as an act of faith… helps us to connect more closely as the body of Christ… builds fellowship… and reveals more of who He is through the lives of others…
I’m truly humbled she openly shared her story with me… blessed by her heart… her words…
And grateful… I could be one who listens… and because I asked… I now know Him… and one of His… better than before…
Maybe you could be a listening ear this week… bless someone by asking them to share their faith story with you…
