a hard journey…

Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. …”

Matthew 7:13-14 ESV (emphasis added)

Believers begin their journey of faith by stepping through a narrow gate… onto a narrow road…

It’s a hard path… wrought with dangers… many of which can be avoided by faith…

Shortly after my journey began… I made a detour… jumping into a pit of fear and anxiety… the getting deeper and getting out took about a decade…

Had I trusted Him… believed Him… I would have not been tempted to jump into the pit…

However… by grace… He used the detour to strengthen my faith… reveal weaknesses… and in their place… lay a firm foundation of truth…

I know this full well… the hard way of the narrow path… but as I watch loved ones on their journeys… recognize the pits… see the detours of doubt… unbelief… bad decisions… it’s even harder…

Journeying on the Way is hard… He never said it would be easy… but He did say it would be worth it…

For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison…

2Corinthians 4:17 ESV

My experience has proved Him true… and yours will too… if you choose the hard way… fight for your faith… trust in Him…

But now I must trust Him with those I love… who have entered through the narrow gate…

I must remember full well… He will rescue… He will free… He will redeem… whatever detours they may take…

He is faithful… and His promises never fail…

I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord.

Psalm 40:1-3 ESV
