I got a little fired up in the study with sisters today…
Reflecting on the ride home… I wonder why… after making a sight of myself… I’m filled with joy…
Then I realize the joy comes from the topic of conversation… the studying of how to live out His Word… Love always trusts…
Because it’s one thing to memorize and know what God says about love…
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
1Corinthians 13:4-7 NIV
and it’s another thing altogether to try and live it out…
And there is where the fired up came from today… trying to share what He’s taught me about love always trusting… and the ladies sharing their stories… questions… doubts… and pressing them to consider situations… circumstances… in which He leads us… and how will we respond…
Will we protect ourselves…? be stingy with trust…? Or will we step out and love as He does…?
The object of love is not for us to be protected… but that we protect others… it’s not that others are guaranteed to be trustworthy… but that we will risk trusting them… taking them at their word… believing they are doing the best they can with where they are and what they know…
But ultimately… we love others the way He does by following the Spirit… and trusting Him who is completely trustworthy with whatever He calls us to do… even if we end up crucified… just like Jesus…
So to be part of something… where sisters in faith are entering the wrestling ring of walking out their faith… growing in their trust of Him… brings great joy… and fires up my spirit…
Because that’s what it’s all about… not just hearing… knowing… but DOING… to the best of our understanding… because He trusts us… to love others in His name…
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
James 1:22 NIV
