In worship this morning… I watched His family… be family…
A young couple with a pre-schooler and baby helped serve Communion today…
The pre-schooler went with his parents… the baby stayed behind…
Normally… I would’ve expected a woman to hold the baby… but there were none in the vicinity…
So from several pews behind… I saw the older man rocking away… sleeping bald-headed baby snuggled down in his arms…
I honestly thought he would skip his turn for Communion… and rock away… but as his turn approached… he passed that little round sleeping babe off to the usher directing him to the rail…
Oh… how I wished I’d had a camera…
The usher… another grandfatherly gentlemen… continued to serve directing people down for Communion… babe in arms… round legs and tiny toes hanging out past his elbow…
Oh the joy…
Only His family provides a safe place where you can pass your baby off to someone other than blood family…
Of course His family is blood family… only it is bound by His… not ours…
These men… willing to rock and cuddle a little baby boy… reminds me of the need we all have… for a Father’s touch… a Father’s protection… a Father’s care…
Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
