Listening to an audiobook… I find myself agreeing with the words…
The wholesale departure from a fundamental belief in the divine inspiration of Scripture meant the sudden loss of the power of God in preaching. …
When the church’s confidence in the Word departed, the glory of God likewise departed from the church. …
With the power of Scripture removed, the church became a social club of unconverted, outwardly religious people.
–Steven J. Lawson, The Passionate Preaching of Martyn Lloyd-Jones
Without faith in the power of the Word… without faith that it is His Word… there is no God-glory… no transformation… no conversion…
Myself… I believe His Word is His Word… and by faith I hear Him speak… convict… encourage… call… entreat… and humble…
Without faith in His Word… there would be no transformation in me… no marriage still in tact… no heart open to love without fear… by His Word… He’s given me a new name…
I’ve seen the power of His Word…
What about you…?
I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.
