When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand as he came down from the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because he had been talking with God.
Exodus 34:29 ESV
Moses’s face shone… because of his relationship with God… but he wasn’t aware…
I don’t think the elderly greeter at Wal-Mart knew either…
When I saw him… I burst into a smile… and resisted the urge to hug him… it really felt like a ridiculous moment… I saw something in him… but I wasn’t sure what…
Caught off guard by my reaction… I greeted him and settled for patting him on the arm as I entered…
Walking on into the store… I thought… I bet he knows Jesus… I should’ve asked him…
After shopping… I exited the same door… the same greeter still there…
He approached as I told him good night… thinking he wanted to see my receipt… I stopped…
But what he was doing was reading my shirt… a recent gift… that reads… It is well with my soul…
After reading it I asked… Is it well with your soul…?
Yes…
You know Jesus…?
And he said… The Lord is my Shepherd…
Without thinking… I said… I thought I saw Him on you when I walked in earlier…
As we parted ways… I said… I’ll see you later…
And… yes… the conversation seemed crazy to my flesh… walking to the car I wondered where those words came from…
But when we know Him… we shine… yet… we don’t know… don’t recognize… the glow…
Moses… to allay the people’s fear… veiled his face…
But we in Jesus… walk around with unveiled faces… (and words…?)
But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another.
2Corinthians 3:16-18 ESV
I wonder at seeing the unseen… and how long it takes… to shine like him…
