Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

This is my favorite translation of the biblical definition of faith…
It’s a translation no longer available… but to me it most clearly defines faith… being sure of what is hoped for… certain of what is unseen…
Faith steps almost always feel like stepping out into thin air… nothing beneath to set your foot firmly on…
Saturday… I began a pursuit of faith… another call to write… and I felt so unsure about the whole process…
It’s not like I haven’t done it before… in a sense I do it here… six (or so) days a week… facing unseen words on a blank screen… placing hope in Him to provide…
And He always has… and by faith I’m assured He always will…
But…
There’s something about starting afresh with a step of faith… a little unnerving… because what we’ve set our hope on to have happen is completely unseen…
We live in a world where seeing is believing… but that’s NOT what He says… He says believing is NOT seeing… and placing your hope in it because He says so…
Counter-intuitive to say the least…
It seems this whole faith thing should get easier… but it just doesn’t…
Even though I know… have experienced… His faithfulness… it’s like every new call is a test… Will you trust Me…? or won’t you…?
These days… there’s really no other way for me… but to continue to trust Him… the Great Unseen… to make the way… for what He calls me to…
Where are you when it comes to being sure of what you hope for…?
How are you at stepping out into the unseen…?
Faith by it’s nature… just doesn’t get easier…
I can tell you it’s challenging… no matter how often you do it… but I can also tell you He’s faithful… and it’s only the faith-full… who come face to face with His faithfulness…
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Remember those unseen green bean plants…? the planting of faith…?

By faith… still waiting on the green beans… sure of what we’re hoping for…
