sing and dance… don’t grumble…

From the day You saved my soul

‘Til the very moment when I come home

I’ll sing, I’ll dance

My heart will overflow

From the day You saved my soul

–I Am They, From the Day

This song echoed through my heart today… in response to what I read in Exodus…

The Israelites safely on the other side of the Red Sea… Pharaoh’s army at the bottom… and God’s people burst into song and dance…

Then Moses and the people of Israel sang this song to the Lord, saying, “I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea. The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him. ….”

Then Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women went out after her with tambourines and dancing.

Exodus 15:1-2, 20 ESV

The Israelites set free from slavery sang and danced… exactly the response we should have as we travel through this wilderness world…

The song stuck in my heart today… echoes the song of the freed Israelites…

But OH… they didn’t sing long…

In the wilderness there are things to grumble about… if you forget who saves you… and we are guilty of the same…

So the next time I’m tempted to grumble… I’ll sing… and hopefully make it true…

From the day You saved my soul… ’til the very moment when I come home… I’ll sing… I’ll dance… my heart will overflow… from the day you saved my soul…

So… brothers and sisters… fellow Believers… let’s not grumble… let’s sing and dance… because we have been saved…!

And maybe… just maybe… someone else will see… and be saved too…!

He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord.

Psalm 40:3 ESV
