completion… the sign of being sent…

He said it to Moses…

“But I will be with you, and this shall be the sign for you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”

Exodus 3:12 ESV

The sign… the assurance… of actually having heard God… and His presence with you along the way… is completion of what He’s called you to do…

The first time I saw this in Scripture… I thought… No wonder Moses said… “Send someone else…”

Not really much assurance there…

Moses had a burning bush… and a voice… which we don’t know whether it was audible or not… but this side of the cross… we have an unseen Holy Spirit burning in our hearts…

An interior Voice calling us to steps of faith…

Which is what God is all about… faith

He longs for us to be sure of what we hope for… certain of what we do not see…

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Hebrews 11:6 ESV

Completion… the sign you’ve heard Him correctly… the sign He has been with you along the way…

It’s on my mind today… as some steps of faith come to completion…

Last week… a faithful step at the shop was completed…

December 2016… we heard the call to pay off a loan… it took sacrifice… it caused cash flow to ebb along the way… but last week… we did it…

“…this will be a sign for you… that I have sent you…”

Our shop is also a place of ministry… the home of a ladies Bible teaching ministry we call… Sister Talk Faith

After completing one study… one we wrote… we heard the call to go deeper… take the five weeks of study on faith… and make it twenty-five…

We began August 2016… today we completed it… a study which didn’t exist previously… but by faith we wrote… rewrote… taught… and blogged…

“…this will be a sign for you… that I have sent you…”

As I shower… the words of a song come to mind this morning… Standing on this mountaintop… the tune continues… but those are all the words I know…

I felt sure the mountaintop must refer to Moses… the place he worshiped as a sign of completion of his call…

I looked them up…

Standing on this mountaintop

Looking just how far we’ve come

Knowing that for every step

You were with us

Kneeling on this battle ground

Seeing just how much you’ve done

Knowing every victory

Was Your power in us

Scars and struggles on the way

But with joy our hearts can say

Yes, our hearts can say

Never once did we ever walk alone

Never once did You leave us on our own

You are faithful, God, You are faithful

–Matt Redman, Never Once

The words reflect what’s in my heart today…

He is faithful… and when we willingly take steps of faith… the only sign being an iffy completion… we see His faithfulness… experience Him in ways we cannot apart from faith… and then… we… know…

Don’t miss an opportunity to find Him faithful…

Step… out… in… faith…

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Philippians 1:6 ESV

Take a moment to listen to the song… and praise Him for His faithfulness…
