needing to know more…

In the study with sisters… we’re going deeper into His love… and what it means to exercise our faith through love…

This week I read Jesus’s prayer for Believers…

“…O righteous Father, even though the world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me. I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.”

John 17:25-26 ESV (emphasis added)

Jesus said… as He makes known the name… character… of the Father to His disciples… He will continue to make Him know… so the Father’s love… will be in His disciples…

And I think about how little I must know of His name… His character… as I contemplate His description of love…

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

1Corinthians 13:4-7 NIV84

I fail on so many levels to love in His Spirit of love… but the one that haunts… the one that’s the worst… and really makes me fail at all the other aspects of love is… self-seeking

I am so not… not self-seeking…

Constantly… I find myself irritable… angry… impatient… unkind… rude… because what I perceive as my needs… or wants… are not being met…

Really…?! It’s just pathetic…

I so need to know Him more… know better… all He’s done for me… so I can rest… in who He is… and love those… He’s placed around me…

Lord Jesus… reveal more of the Father to me… fill me with more of His love for You… that it can flow from me to others…
