the wisdom of silence…

This morning… in the reading through of Job with sisters… I’m struck by the overall conversation between Job and his friends…

All of them men of faith… all of them trying to reconcile a sovereign God in a broken world… all of them getting it partially right… partially wrong…

I see the struggle as a personal one… a timely one… as so many today… try to reason their way through faith…

In one of his moments… Job says to his friends…

Oh that you would keep silent, and it would be your wisdom!

Job 13:5 ESV

The wisdom of silence… to know when to be quiet… when to come to terms with the reality we will not fully understand Him… now…

For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face.

1Corinthians 13:12 ESV

Sometimes… it’s just best… to be quiet… and remember… we only see dimly… and are waiting for His full revelation…

Therein is the wisdom of silence…
