how we know Him…

Yesterday’s thoughts on… How I know turned toward the importance of why we need to know…

It’s important to trust His Word… know His Word… because it’s how we know Him…

He reveals Himself not only through creation… but through His Word… it’s where we see how He relates to His people… it’s where we learn His promises… and come to know His character which keeps those promises…

His Son… Jesus… is called… the Word…

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:1 NKJV

He came as the Word made flesh…

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father full of grace and truth.

John 1:14 ESV

Jesus… the fulfillment of the law… lived out God’s Word perfectly… revealing God perfectly…

He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power.

Hebrews 1:3 ESV

He also made the Way for His Spirit to live in us… not only to guide us… but to teach us what His Word means… reveal truth and understanding to us…

Our understanding and reason broke in the Fall… therefore it takes the Holy Spirit to teach us about God through His Word… to lead us into all truth…

But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all have knowledge.

1John 2:20 ESV

Knowing God through His Word… by faith in Christ… by the power of the Holy Spirit… is the only way to truly know God…

If you get in the Word… and begin to see God as someone you don’t recognize as God… then maybe you need to begin questioning what god you are following…

God… from Genesis to Revelation… is the One True God… and His Word is the place where we come to know if the god we are following is truly God…

You do not want to find yourself… backing the wrong god…

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.

2Peter 2:1 ESV

Relying solely on teachers to teach us who God is… is a bad idea…

We are called to test the spirits we hear… and by the power of the Holy Spirit… we can know… if we get in His Word… and trust it as His Word…

But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you.

1John 2:27 ESV

So consider where you have learned about Him… then see if that is who you find in His Word… because His Word… is how we know Him…
