betrayed… beaten… crucified… buried… (part 1)

It’s Good Friday…

From the triumphal entry on Palm Sunday… to tossing tables on Monday… with authority revealed Tuesday… the questions stopped Wednesday… then the foot washing on Thursday… we come… to Friday…

Friday will come in four parts… moments to contemplate… what He suffered for you…

Then they came to a place which was named Gethsemane; and He said to His disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” And He took Peter, James, and John with Him, and He began to be troubled and deeply distressed. Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch.”

He went a little farther, and fell on the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him. And He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.”

Mark 14:32-35 NKJV

Three time Jesus prayed to His Father… three times Jesus checked on Peter… James… John… to see if they too were praying… watching… three times… He found them sleeping…

Judas betrayed Him to the priests… the ones who wanted Jesus dead…

Peter… James… John… they betrayed Him too… spirits willing… bodies weak… they slept…

Have you betrayed Him lately…? perhaps not with outright blasphemy… but what about complacency…?

“I know your works. You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead. Wake up, and strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your works complete in the sight of my God. Remember, then, what you received and hear. Keep it, and repent. …” –Jesus

Revelation 3:1-3 NKJV
